I am currently investigating and testing potential causal mechanisms which facilitate the link between childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and adult sexual assault; sexual revictimisation. It is hoped that the study’s findings will then be used to develop empirically-based and a more efficacious psycho-educational training package to be used as a means preventing revictimisation, through processes of target hardening and empathy-building. One of the objectives of the research is to explore the ways in which some forms of CSA lead to very different and potentially debilitating consequences in comparison to exposure to alternative traumatic events.
